Band of Jesse D Vernon, released 1st album in 1997, based now in Paris, fomally in the UK. Lyrically Leonard Cohen to Jonathan Richman. stylistically Nina Simone to Hendrix. Songs to the Morning Star from the history of music. Originally from Bristol, now based in Paris, Jesse has found success in France with countless gigs across the country, features in top French rock mag Les Inrockuptibles, his tracks have been used in several French films including De l'autre côté du lit out later in 2009.
Support has also come from Japan with influential Japanese label Angel's Egg releasing several albums of Jesses over there and asking him to tour three times, most recently last October. Videos of this tour have been posted all over the net.
In the UK Richard Williams of the Guardian did a one off review of 2001’s My Place In The Dust, produced by P. J. Harvey collaborator and long time musical ally John Parish. Bob Harris has also been a supporter, playing Black Swan from Morning Star’s last album 2005’s The Opposite Is True.
Morningstar have supported/shared bills with John Parish, The National, Jeffrey Lewis, Bert Jansch, M Ward, Camera Obscura.
One of the key members of cult Bristol band Moonflowers - first came to national attention with the indie hit Get Higher in 1990 and psych masterpieces like 1993's From Whales to Jupiter and Beyond the Stars to Rainbohemia.
Jesse D. Vernon has recently worked with some of modern folk’s new heroes, contributing greatly with Sean O’Hagan and Bonnie Prince Billie on Soy Un Caballo’s fantastic debut LP Les Heures de Raison. He can also often be found playing and touring with partner and rising star Kate Stables aka This Is The Kit.
